Lone Mountain Ranch was first homesteaded as a working cattle ranch in 1915. Generations of owners, guests and crew have been inspired by the love of the special, Montana land to create the exceptional experience that this Montana guest ranch provides.
During the summer, Lone Mountain Guest Ranch offers guided horseback riding in the Gallatin National Forest, Lee Metcalf Wilderness and Yellowstone National Park. Beginners and more experienced riders are welcome to ride wtih top-notch wranglers. Guests also enjoy the outdoors through guided hiking, fly-fishing on many of the area’s many blue ribbon trout waters, an outstanding Kids Program (ages 4-18), canoeing trips and Yellowstone National Park tours.
The Ranch transforms into a winter wonderland December through March and is a favorite of winter enthusiasts. Voted as the #1 Nordic Ski Area in North America by Cross Country Skier magazine, the warm western hospitality, dependable snow, nearby Yellowstone National Park, meticulously groomed cross country ski trails, snowshoe trails, amazing food and experienced staff create an unrivaled Rocky Mountain experience.
Lone Mountain Guest Ranch’s cuisine is inspired by the bounty of the Northwestern Rockies, including locally produced offerings. Breakfasts may include banana pancakes, flax seed waffles, local bacon and Hutterite eggs. For dinner, delight in Kobe beef, elk or vegetarian options. During the summer and winter, guests enjoy a variety of family-style dinners, campfires, hillside barbecues, trailside buffets and live music in the saloon, equipped with with a copper top bar and handmade western bar stools.
The Montana guest ranch is an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge. Guests may have trouble choosing where to go, as there are a variety of fishing options and locations. Explore private spring creeks, the wilderness of Yellowstone National Park, high mountain lakes or streams in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, Hebgen Lake or one of four blue-ribbon trout rivers.
The ranch’s Outdoor Youth Adventures program for young people (ages 3-18) promotes an appreciation for nature and building their self-confidence through a wide variety of fun outdoor recreation activities. Activities may include horseback rides, horseshoe competitions, nature exploration activities, low and high ropes courses, scavenger hunts, archery, field games, art projects, canoeing, trip to a waterfall, hikes and rodeo games.
